Ryan’s Beef Pho
My kids love this! It’s super fun and makes your house smell great! Pho (pronounced “fuh”) is a Vietnamese soup of savory broth, beef, and herbs. It’s super bright and you can adapt it to your own taste!

Main ingredients
- Good quality beef, raw, chilled and sliced paper thin
- Rice vermicelli noodles, rehydrated
Broth ingredients
- Beef broth/stock
- Cinnamon stick, whole star anise, whole peppercorns.
- Onion - large diced
- Fresh ginger - a big chunk
- 2 tbsp Fish sauce
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- Seasoning to taste. Add any herbs you like. Add sugar if you’d like.
Toppings
- Fresh herbs, basil, cilantro, mint
- Sriracha, garlic chili sauce, hot sauce
- Mung bean sprouts
- Lime
Instructions
- Simmer the broth ingredients for at least 2 hours. You will eventually strain it, so the aromatics can be nice and large.
- Slice beef paper thin.
- Fill bowl with rice vermicelli and raw beef.
- Pour boiling stock over bowl, which will cook beef.
- Top with all of the wonderful sprouts, herbs and sauces (to taste)!
- Slurp!
